Since this is an online version of the book, it is intended that the user
make use of it in the same way as the book - i.e. to search for hotels in a
particular location. This can be done in two ways: either search for establishments in a particular
town or search a list towns in a
geographical region.

- Town and county of establishment
- Establishment accreditations
Accreditation and award logos for each establishment.
- Image of establishment
An image of the establishment, as supplied to us.
- Short description of hotel or restaurant
Often containing descriptive, interesting or historical information,
as well as location, distance from local places of interest
etc.
Accommodation: minimum charges are quoted for room or
for bed and breakfast; a number of hotels also quote full board,
half board, demi and en pension terms.
Meals: minimum table d'hôte (tdh) charges are quoted;
an a la carte (alc) menu is also available in a great number
of establishments.
N.B. Tariffs were correct at the time of going to press; however,
they may fluctuate during the currency of the Guide.
Readers are advised to confirm prices when making a booking.
Prices are inclusive of service and VAT unless otherwise
stated. VAT is not payable in the Channel Islands.
Credit Cards: As most hotels and restaurants accept payment
by credit card, details of these have been included in abbreviated
form. Key to the abbreviations used for major credit cards is
as follows:
M = MasterCard/Eurocard
AE = American Express
V = Visa
D = Diners
Other = Switch, Delta, JCB etc.

At the top of each page, there are links to every other page in the site. Clicking on the
Hotels and Restaurants of Britain logo at the top will return you to the start or home page.
Generally links are coloured in green, and underlined.
At the bottom of longer pages you will find an up-arrow,  which when clicked will return you
to the top of the page.

The site is designed to work on version 3 browsers
onwards, and is best viewed at a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.
For your convenience, image sizes have been kept to a minimum
to allow fast loading times.
